Position Summary
PEI Atlantic Baptist Homes – Centennial Court, a long-term care facility located in Prince Edward Island, is seeking a proactive and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to lead the day-to-day HR operations for the site. Working closely with the local leadership team and the Human Resources Business Partner, this role is responsible for supporting a positive and compliant workplace culture, while overseeing all site-level HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, HR documentation, and policy implementation. This position will also collaborate with the recruiter to ensure a smooth and timely hiring process for the site. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day HR operations at the site, ensuring alignment with policies, collective agreements, and employment legislation
- Support and collaborate with the organization’s centralized recruiter to facilitate site-level recruitment and onboarding
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities in partnership with leadership and HR Business Partner
- Maintain up-to-date and compliant employee records and personnel files
- Support and advise managers and staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Assist with employee relations matters, progressive discipline, and investigations as required
- Coordinate leaves of absence, status changes, and benefits-related updates
- Liaise with payroll and scheduling to ensure accurate data processing
- Prepare and maintain HR reports and internal documentation
- Contribute to employee engagement, retention, and wellness initiatives
- Support special HR projects and continuous improvement efforts
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Two-three years of experience in a Human Resources role (experience in long-term care, healthcare, or unionized environments preferred)
- CHRP designation or working towards certification is considered an asset Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of HR practices and employment legislation (particularly in PEI)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS or related systems
- Ability to work independently while supporting collaborative goals Personal Attributes

Working Hours/Schedule: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (with flexibility based on operational needs)
