Job Description

The incumbent will assist, under supervision of a Registered Nurse, with the basic nursing care of residents in a Long-Term Care setting. The Resident Care Worker is the personal care provider for residents within the long-term care setting. The purpose of their position is to provide professional, high quality, holistic care in a manner that considers the residents’ physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs. A primary responsibility is to deliver person-centered care. The Resident Care Worker will use the skills and competencies within their scope of practice in the performance of job duties and tasks, as an integral member of the nursing care team and is responsible for working to their full scope of practice. This position will require shift work, including weekends.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
• Resident Care Worker certification program or equivalent as recognized by the Employer.
• Good Communication and judgement skills
• This is a bilingual position. Advanced oral proficiency in English and French are required.
• Capable of sustained physical activity 
• Ability to show demonstrated patience, sensitivity and creativity.
• The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record

Other Qualifications:

• Previous, recent experience would be an asset.
• Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
• Additional training in dementia care or palliative is an asset.
