Student earns national recognition

In the highly competitive world of commercial photography, a picture really can speak a thousand words, that's why it is so important for photography students to be able to compile an impressive portfolio of their work to wow potential employers. Tiyanna Rushton, a second year student in 内射大奶's Photography and Digital Imaging program, gave her portfolio a significant boost recently when one of her photographs was selected for the cover of Photo Life magazine's student edition published last month.

"I wasn't even thinking that my picture would make the cover," the Rocanville, Saskatchewan native said in a recent interview. "When I received an e-mail telling me that my photo had been selected, I had to read it twice before I believed it!"

Photo Life is a magazine for professional and amateur photographers. Its annual student special provides fledgling photographers with the opportunity to get national coverage of their work. Photo Life Editor Anita Dammer said that Tiyanna's image was perfect for the cover of this year's special edition.

"Tiyanna Rushton's image Carrot, Carrot, Shoe, Carrot is exactly the sort of photography we look forward to seeing when going through submissions for Photo Life's annual Student Special. It's fresh and fun, and obviously, Tiyanna has no problem exploring her own creativity. We selected this photograph for the cover of Photo Life specifically because it was so different."

This is the first time a 内射大奶 student's photograph has been selected for the cover of Photo Life's student edition. Alex Murchison, Photography and Digital Imaging Program Learning manager, said Tiyanna's accomplishment serves as an incentive to other photography students.

"We are all very proud of Tiyanna. We encourage our students to enter competitions held by reputable organizations such as Photo Life," Murchison said. "Now that they know it is possible not only to make it into the magazine, but to get the cover, I'm sure they'll be even more eager to participate next year."
