AOTW | Emma Arsenault & Spencer Rossiter Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week
By Reegan MacAulay
Women’s hockey player Emma Arsenault and men’s basketball player Spencer Rossiter have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for March 2 to March 8, 2026.
Arsenault, a fifth-year goaltender from Searletown, P.E.I., capped her Hurricanes career by backstopping the women’s hockey team to its fourth consecutive and fifth all-time Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association championship at the 2026 ACHA Championship in Sydney, N.S.
Arsenault won her lone round-robin start on Saturday, March 7, helping the Hurricanes defeat the regular-season-title-holding Acadia Axewomen 3-2 in a shootout. She later started against Acadia again in Sunday’s championship final, with the Hurricanes earning a 3-2 victory in regulation.
She made many timely saves across both games, led by example throughout the tournament, and delivered a memorable final performance en route to her fourth career championship.
The multi-time Hurricanes Women’s Hockey Most Valuable Player served as the team’s starter throughout the program’s four-peat run, in addition to a championship runner-up effort as a rookie in 2022.
She departs the program as its most accomplished goaltender, leaving her mark not only with clutch performances and composure under pressure, but also by serving as a role model for teammates and younger players, while helping promote the Hurricanes and collegiate women’s hockey on campus and in the community.

Rossiter, a fourth-year guard/forward from Summerside, P.E.I., concluded his Hurricanes career with a standout performance in his final game on Friday, March 6 — an 82-65 quarterfinal loss to the Crandall Chargers at the 2026 ACAA Men’s Basketball Championships in Halifax, N.S.
Rossiter tallied 16 points, three steals, two rebounds, and seven assists in 37 minutes. While it was a tough end to his tenure with the Hurricanes, his versatility and determination were on display as he helped spark multiple scoring runs that kept the team within reach.
A steady presence throughout his three seasons with the program, Rossiter contributed as both a scorer and playmaker while bringing leadership and energy to the court. After stepping away from the game and school for one year to support his family, Rossiter’s comeback to the lineup reflected the determination and dedication that defined his time with the Hurricanes.
He leaves the program with a lasting legacy of commitment, resilience, and excellence on and off the court — a testament to the impact he had on the program and his teammates.
